A Little About Amber
I have to tell you, Amber was a trip! She was so much fun to be around. Her friends told me that when they were at a party or some type of gathering, Amber made it her job to make sure everyone was having a good time. Amber's goal was to become a social worker. She loved helping people. While in school, she also worked at "Ellisville State School", as a housemother for mentally challanged children. She loved that job and she loved those children. She called then "her kids"! They loved her too! That was quite evident at her funeral, where all of "her kids" attended. As a matter of fact, she was so well loved that over 700 people attended the funeral! I remember feeling both deep sadness but also pride. I was so proud of her for having such a positive impact on so many people at such a young age! A little story...One day, while bringing grocieries in from the car, an elderly, homeless man walked by the front of our home. Amber stopped what she was doing and went and got the elderly man. She asked him to sit on the front porch and she went inside and made him a sandwhich, a slice of cake and a glass of milk. When he finished eating he gave Amber a hug and with a tear in his eye, told me how lucky I was to have such a daughter. Don't I know it!!! |
